Kings Art Exhibitions
The Kings Arms supports art exhibitions by living local artists. The paintings are displayed in the dining room and bar areas, with others in the main restaurant and function room.
This section includes some of the works displayed in various exhibitions at the Kings.
Angela Bowen

Angela was born in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. After a career as a freelance engraver and bringing up a family, she decided to further her art career.
In 2003-2005 she embarked on a Foundation Course in Art & Design at University of Wales Institute Cardiff, which she passed with distinction. In 2005 she started a degree course BA(Fine Art) at UWIC, which she complete in 2008.
Angela was the 2005 joint winner of the Annual School Prize for Foundation Studies awarded by the School of Art & Design, University of Wales Institute Cardiff.
June Mogford

Born in Newport and now living in Langstone, June always aspired to being an artist. Her love of sketching and drawing has allowed her to capture her surroundings in a unique fashion.
Inspired by her love of gardening, she has created a stunning collection of floral studies and botanical scenes which are both appealing and endearing.
She also enjoys painting local landscapes
Denise Di Battista

Born in Yorkshire but brought up here in South Wales, Denise is a self proclaimed ‘thinker and daydreamer’.
Her subjects are mainly of situations observed. She is a consummate picture maker and people watcher. She works in watercolours and acrylics.
She first exhibited in 2002 and sold over half of her paintings in three days – so she is already a collectable artist.
In 2004, Denise received the Lauretta Williams award and in 2006 the Hugh Richards award.
Phil Owens

Phil is a talented self-taught artist, born on the North Yorkshire Moors.
He moved to South Wales to work in the aircraft industry.
Phil likes experimenting in different mediums and has created some splendid charcoal images of legends in the jazz world.
Terry Mould

Terry works mainly in metal sculpture and has recently created some fantastic zoomorphic works based on fish and foul.
Some of the pieces are beautifully painted and others rely simply on their wonderful iconic form.
Tony Goodridge

An exciting new painter, working mostly in oils and acrylics on canvas.
The subject of Tony’s current work is figures, some of which are self portraits. Portraying sometimes vivid and graphic scenes, the pieces are awash with provocative colour and good use of darkness and light.
